The Carriers of Civilization

Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill. I think that there is nothing, not even crime, more opposed to poetry, to philosophy, ay, to life itself than this incessant business.

- Henry David Thoreau

  1. Jason I enjoyed reading your suspense novel. The cover fits the story and is very inviting.
Your website linking is really great as well.

  2. Thanks so much for the kind words about the story; I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's pretty cool that you were kind enough to connect with me this way and share your thoughts.

When it comes to the cover, I wanted something striking and simple. I went through dozens of mockups and have been toying with the idea of posting a few of the versions that didn't make the cut here on the blog.

Many designers try to fit too many 'things' into a cover design, perhaps thinking they will 'cover their bases' and show readers that the book is indeed about so many different things. I find that one visual idea is usually the best when it comes to any design.
