Announcing the 2012 Farthest Reach Award

Nominations are open!

The Farthest Reaches is proud to announce that nominations are now open for the 2012 Farthest Reach Award, honouring brilliance and 'reach' in the world of book marketing, sales and readership.
  • Do you know someone who, this year, has displayed unprecedented successes in marketing or promoting their own work or the work of others in the field of books and publishing?
  • Have they helped develop the reach of others into the segment of book sales online or off?
  • Would this person stand as an example to others as how to achieve success in the ever-growing market of ebook and print book sales?
  • Is this person a testament to best practices for the purposes of the entire market or even their own catalogue?
If any of the above describe your nominee, then he or she could be one of the recipients of the 2011 Farthest Reach Award. Recipients will be the best and brightest stars in this field. Share your knowledge of this person's achievements and we will all celebrate them together!

Scope of the award

This award will be presented to individuals, groups or teams who have made outstanding 'on-the-ground' contributions to the sector of book marketing and publishing, either through mass efforts that have benefited the entire segment or particular to their own writing and sales goals.  The Reach Award is a way to recognize, celebrate and take pride in the achievements of our peers, fellow authors, readers, publishers and book marketers.

Criteria and selection

Recipients are authors, marketing professionals, publishers or others in the ebook or print book world who provide exceptional levels of quality aimed at sharing the knowledge of literature to the reading public, have developed innovative marketing ideas, or demonstrate extraordinary leadership in performing above and beyond those around them.

The call for nominations opens today, June 21st, 2011 and closes on August 31, 2011.

> Nomination call has been EXTENDED TO September 18, 2011 <

An independent selection committee will recommend one to six recipients (individuals or groups/teams) from the nominations received.  Please see The Farthest Reach Award // Announcing the Decision Committee to discover this year's selection committee.

Final announcements regarding the short list and finalists will be based on the strength and number of the nominations received. By submitting a nomination, you agree to allow the selection committee and this website to use your name, likeness and all materials submitted, plus the name and likeness of the nominee.

  1. I may not be the first to nominate someone I adore, but I'll gladly be the first to crow about it. :)

  11. Aw, how kind and sweet, Nat! Remember, you can nominate more than one person...however, as I'm the founder of this particular award, I would need to gracefully bow out if someone nominated me. I think that would only be fair.

Still, though, what a great thing to say! Am I blushing? I think I'm blushing. Can you tell? I'm pretty sure I'm blushing...

  12. I would like to nominate The Indie Book Collective. They are doing a great job in not only promoting their own works but are also doing the same for others. In addition, IBC teaches classes on social media, publishing and marketing, all for free or minimal fees. They don't do it for profit, they do it from the desire to help other indie authors find success and show the world that indie authors are great too!

  13. Karen, that's a wonderful idea to nominate the IBC -- please use the form above so that it can be counted with all the nominees! Thanks so much!
